This activities of daily living group supports learners in determining which of their existing health and hygiene skills they would like to improve upon while socializing with peers of the same gender. This group utilizes didactic teaching, role play, discussion and practice of various health and hygiene skills.

Skills taught can include:

  • Various hygiene skills (e.g., dental care, showering and washing hair, shaving)
  • Dressing and understanding situational and weather appropriateness
  • Public vs. private including behaviours, places, and body parts
  • Body changes through puberty
  • Saying no and responding to no, and rules surrounding touch
