Participants learn skills related to kitchen safety, food preparation and cleaning up. Participants will have the opportunity to plan meals and cook various recipes.

Skills taught can include:

  • Reading recipes, retrieving ingredients, and measuring ingredients
  • Safe use of various kitchen appliances
  • Following a recipe to make simple snacks/meals
  • Plating food and getting appropriate cutlery
  • Cleaning up and putting away ingredients

Skills We Focus On

Recipe skills: reading recipes, gathering ingredients, and measuring accurately.

Kitchen safety: safe use of appliances and tools.

Meal preparation: following steps to prepare simple snacks and meals.

Cleanup routines: plating food, using cutlery, and cleaning up after cooking.

This program is not suitable if your child:

Engages in behaviours that could cause injury to self or others

Needs consistent 1:1 support for learning

Is still developing basic readiness skills (e.g., attending, following directions, transitions)

Needs support with having conversations
