Social Communication Skills – Level B

This group-based program provides learners with opportunities to learn social communication skills needed to engage with peers and participate in group activities. Learners are placed in one of three levels based on their current skill level.

Level B – Intermediate communication skills, social skills and play skills are taught within group activities using simple instructions, modeling, practice and providing the learner with feedback.

Skills taught can include:

  • Social play (e.g., initiates greetings, joins others in play, gains peer attention, takes turns and shares)
  • Complex language (e.g., answers wh- questions, requests and comments using full sentences)

Group learning skills

This program is not suitable if your child:

Engages in behaviours that could cause injury to self or others

Needs consistent 1:1 support for learning

Is still developing basic readiness skills (e.g., attending, following simple directions, transitions)

Does not speak using short phrases
