Social Communication Skills – Level C

This group-based program provides learners with opportunities to learn social communication skills needed to engage with peers and participate in group activities. Learners are placed in one of three levels based on their current skill level.

Level C – Advanced communication and social skills are taught within group activities using simple instructions, modeling, practice and feedback.

Skills taught can include:

  • Social play and cooperation (e.g., follows complex instructions, gives explanation how to do something)
  • Early conversation skills (e.g., joins a conversation, takes turns in a conversation)

Skills We Focus On

Social play & cooperation: following multi-step instructions, explaining how to complete tasks, and working with peers.

Early conversation skills: joining conversations, taking turns, and responding appropriately to others.

This program is not suitable if your child:

Engages in behaviours that could cause injury to self or others

Needs consistent 1:1 support for learning

Is still developing basic readiness skills (e.g., attending, following directions, transitions)

Does not speak using simple sentences
